On 22nd August 2017 local time, by invitation of Mt Pleasant School, CIUC MLA Candice Ran, offered taster classes on the traditional Chinese Instrument pipa to school students.

Around two hundred students from seven classes were involved in this cultural interaction. During the class, Candice first presented a brief introduction on the instrument, followed by pipa performances of traditional pieces of music. Teachers and students were very intrigued by this very old instrument and some of them were so interested that they event tried to play it with the instruction from Candice.

CIUC MLA Candice used to be a member of the Student Art Troupe of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and she has been playing the pipa for more than five years.
